Collected Music
for Piano and Keyboard: Volumes 1 & 2
To coincide with the publication
of a series of Guides to New Music for Piano and Keyboard
Tonality Systems Press are making available two downloadable
Collected Editions: Volume 1: Collected Music for
Piano and Volume 2: Collected Music for Piano
and Keyboard. These are freely available in downloadable
form expressly for study purposes, but may be purchased in
hard copy on request.
Volume 1 includes significant
movements from Nigel Morgan's most celebrated large-scale
solo piano work Touching the Distance. There are
complete works featured in the Toccata and the concert
study Rising Falling Hovering. Two studies from the
composer's unique Interactions for piano left hand are represented
along with the bravura Omphalos for prepared piano.
Two dynamic miniatures complete the collection, I am Bartok
and In Webern's Shoes.
Volume 2 brings together
further music for piano solo but also compositions for harpsichord,
organ, electric and MIDI keyboard with live electronics, and
piano duet. The ambitious Goethe Triangle is represented
by two of its five movements. The White Light of Wonder,
a Kinderszenen for our times, has two of its twelve
movements featured. Several complete works appear: Invention
for Mr. K, for chamber organ and Every Picture Tells
a Story for harpsichord. The volume opens with the first
five of the minimalist Fifteen Images (Le Jardin Pluvieux).
